How we see children

Providence Christian Preschool was established in 2007 by Christ's Church of the Valley. The aim was a strong academic foundation, in a place where children experience the love of God. Our approach is safe, quality care with learning that fits each child's age. Teachers work on mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual growth together. Every classroom has certified staff with the continuing education and training the role requires.

Rooms here are set up as play-learning centers, so a child can choose an activity and join a small group. Teachers plan around art, dramatic play, music, science and nature, fine and gross motor skills, and group time. Each day holds loud, active stretches and quiet ones, plus outside playground time. Children practice taking turns, asking for what they need, and putting things back where they found them.

On a tour, notice who is talking and who is listening. Teachers sit at child height, ask questions, and wait for answers. Notice the art on the walls: it is the children's own work, hung where they can see it. Notice how the room is arranged so a child can find the blocks, the books, and the sink without asking. Families say the teachers treat their children like their own.

What a day looks like

Mornings start with a teacher at the door and a place to put a bag. Children find their cubby, hang up a coat, and settle into a table activity while everyone arrives. A child who needs a slower goodbye can stand near the teacher until the room feels familiar. Soon the group gathers for a welcome and the plan for the day.

The middle of the morning moves between learning centers and group time. Children paint, build, sort, and act out stories; teachers pull small groups for a game or a book. Lunch Bunch begins at 11:30 AM and runs to 12:30 PM, so children eat with classmates and then play. Outside time comes when the weather allows.

After lunch, the room quiets down. Children finish a last activity, gather their bag and any artwork, and get ready for pickup. Enrichment runs Monday through Thursday and ends at 2:30; Friday dismissal after lunch bunch is at 12:30. At the door, teachers tell you one thing your child did that day.

How we work with families

At pickup, teachers share the small things: who tried the paint easel, who made a friend at the block shelf, who needed a quiet minute. If you have a question about your child, ask the teacher at the door or email the office. Families can also call the preschool directly. Teachers would rather hear from you early than wonder later.

The first weeks are about routine. A new child learns where the cubby is, who the teachers are, and what happens after the welcome song. Some children settle in on day one; others need a few mornings. Teachers stay in touch with families about how drop-off is going and adjust as needed. You can ask about a first-week plan that fits your child's routine.

Good questions to ask first

What are the hours?

Lunch Bunch begins at 11:30 AM and ends at 12:30 PM, extending the day for morning students..

What ages do you take?

Children from AGES 2 to 5.

Can we visit before deciding?

Yes. A tour is how most families decide, and children are welcome to come along.

What should my child bring on the first day?

For a first day, families usually pack a spare set of clothes, a comfort item if your child uses one, and a lunch if your child stays for Lunch Bunch. Label everything with your child's name. Teachers will tell you if anything else is needed for your child's class.

Do you offer part-time or flexible schedules?

Schedules depend on your child's age group and what spots are currently open, so the best next step is to ask what is available. Call or email the preschool and we will go through the days with you.

What if there is no place right now?

If a class is full, your child can go on a waiting list and we will let you know when a place opens for their age. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so it helps to ask early.
